Pilot ni dejal: »Vse je v redu, lahko noč (All right, good night).« Uporabil je namreč standarden pozdrav: »Lahko noč, Malezijec, tri sedem nič (Good nigh Malaysian three seven zero).« To so zdaj sporočile malezijske oblasti. Kdo je to izrekel – pilot ali kopilot –, še ugotavljajo.
Sicer pa se iskanje na obsežnem območju nadaljuje, letala in ladje pa za zdaj niso bili uspešni. Po podatkih satelitov so ugotovili, da naj bi letalo z 239 potniki strmoglavilo v Indijski ocean. A razen tega podatka ni nobenega dokaza, nobene razbitine, ki bi po treh tednih od izginotja to lahko potrdila. Z vsakim dnem, ki mine, pa so možnosti, da letalo ali vsaj črno skrinjico najdejo, vse manjše. Manj kot teden dni bo namreč ta še oddajala signal.
